My son had a rib injury early in the football season so we wanted to buy him something that would protect that area. This item worked very well and he was able to complete the season without any further trouble.

I tell parents that this is "cheap life insurance" when they balk at the price. I know that the likelihood of getting hit is small, BUT if it happened... I wish that they would make this a little more full coverage. My son could not get out of the way of a fastball quickly enough and got SMACKED on the left side of his ribs at bat recently. OWWW!!! It left a mark and some pain for a few days. Adding a panel to the side and making the back panels extend lower to cover more of the lower back would be ideal. I'm not sure why the back pads are so high... Overall, feel much better about him being on the field somewhat more protected, and I have recommended this to other parents.

Great for my son who pitches, it gives him extra confidence. Also a protects him if he's batting and he has to take a hit. Very comfortable and does not interfere with movement.
